Classic and enthusiast car repair in San Mateo
Older cars need a mechanic who knows how they were built and has the patience to work on them carefully. We do, and we enjoy it. Your classic gets the same attention we give our own cars, and comes back running the way you remember.

Why classics are different
An older car doesn't have a computer to tell us what's wrong. It needs a mechanic who listens, tests by hand, and understands carburetors, points, older fuel injection and the way these cars were put together. Rubber and plastic parts have aged; bolts may be seized; a wrong move can crack something that's no longer made. Patience is part of the job.
We work on our own older cars in our free time. That's where the care comes from.
What we do on older cars
- Tune-ups: ignition, fuel delivery and idle
- Cooling systems, which older cars rely on heavily
- Brakes, suspension and steering refreshed for safe driving
- Leaks and gaskets
- Engine and transmission work, including swaps
- Getting a car running again after it's been parked
- Sensible modern upgrades, such as better lighting and brakes, when you want them
Modern classics and enthusiast cars
Late-model sports and enthusiast cars get the same care: BRZs, GT86s, Civic Si and Type R, Corvettes and BMWs. See performance installs for mods.
Older cars, treated right
I have an 1980 Datsun-ZX that I've had since it was new, and it's my only car. Finding skilled professionals who can work on this vehicle is not that easy. These guys understand, respect, and love an old classic like this one.
Had the Gosch Bros swap my transmission on my 95 corvette and I was very satisfied with the time and quality of work they did.
They went over the top with repairs on my 2000VW Beetle. The attention to detail my car got just doesn't happen these days.
I have been working with Derick and Dylan for about half a year now on my project car… they always make sure everything's 100% correct to the way I want.

More questions
What classic cars do you work on?
Japanese, American and European classics and modern classics. We've worked on a 1980 Datsun ZX, a 1995 Corvette and an older VW Beetle, among others. If yours is rare, call and ask.
Can you get parts for older cars?
For most popular classics, yes, through OEM, specialist and reproduction suppliers. For rare parts, we'll tell you the options and the lead time up front.
My classic has been sitting. Can you get it running?
Usually. A car that's been sitting needs fresh fuel and fluids, a battery, and a look at the brakes, tires and rubber parts before it's safe on the road. What to check.
