Why does my car pull to one side?
Start by checking that all four tires are at the right pressure, since a low tire is the most common cause. If the pressures are fine, the usual culprits are wheel alignment, a tire with an internal defect, or worn suspension parts. If the car pulls only when you brake, a sticking brake caliper is the likely cause. A slight drift toward the curb can also be normal road crown.
Pulls while driving
| Cause | Clue |
|---|---|
| Low tire on one side | Check with a gauge; the most common cause |
| Alignment out of spec | Off-center steering wheel, edge wear on tires |
| Tire defect (conicity) | Started after new tires or a rotation |
| Worn suspension or steering parts | Clunks, wandering, uneven wear |
| Road crown | Gentle drift toward the curb on most roads, normal |
Pulls only when braking
That points to the brakes: a caliper that's sticking or not applying fully on one side, a contaminated pad, or a collapsed brake hose. Because braking balance matters for safety, get it checked soon. Brake service
What we do
We check pressures, look at tire wear patterns, inspect the suspension and steering for play, and road test. If it needs an alignment, we'll do it. If a worn part is causing the pull, we'll show you a photo, because aligning a car with a worn part doesn't hold.
From drivers who came to us
We needed an urgent alignment for new suspension installation and they were fast to respond. Our car is not the newest and I expected an upsell on additional work needed, but I was so pleased to get a call after the service and confirm the car was doing just fine.

More questions
Does my car need an alignment?
Signs include a pull, a steering wheel that's off-center when driving straight, and tires wearing on their inner or outer edges. After hitting a curb or a large pothole, it's worth checking.
Why did the pull start after I got new tires?
A new tire can have a slight internal defect called conicity that makes it pull. Swapping the two front tires side to side is a quick test.
Is a pull dangerous?
A mild drift isn't an emergency, but it wears tires and is tiring on long drives. A sudden strong pull, especially when braking, should be checked right away.
