Tire repair, replacement and TPMS in San Mateo
Nail in the tread, a slow leak or a tire pressure light on the dash? We find the cause, repair the tire properly when it's safe to, and replace it when it isn't. You get back on the road with tires you can trust at highway speed.
Flat and puncture repair
A nail or screw in the tread is the most common tire problem we see. If it's in the repairable area and the tire hasn't been driven on flat, we remove it and repair the tire from the inside with a plug-patch, then balance and check for leaks. That's the method tire makers recommend; an outside plug alone is a temporary fix.
If the damage is in the sidewall or shoulder, or the tire was driven while flat and the inside is damaged, a repair isn't safe. We'll show you why and replace it.
Tire pressure (TPMS) problems
We check and adjust pressures, find slow leaks at the bead, valve or wheel, and diagnose and replace TPMS sensors when the light stays on.
Replacement, rotation and balance
When it's time for new tires, we'll help you pick the right type for how you drive, whether that's quiet commuting on 101 or weekend trips over the hill to the coast. We mount, balance, and check alignment if the old tires show uneven wear. Uneven wear usually means something else needs attention, and new tires will wear the same way until it's fixed.

More questions
Can a tire with a nail be repaired?
Usually, if the puncture is in the tread area and small (about a quarter inch or less). Punctures in the sidewall or shoulder can't be safely repaired. A proper repair is a plug-patch installed from inside the tire.
Why is my tire pressure light on?
Usually one or more tires are low, often after a cold night. If it flashes for about a minute and then stays on, there's a problem with a sensor. Full answer.
How old is too old for a tire?
Many tire and car makers recommend replacing tires around 6 to 10 years old, regardless of tread, because the rubber ages. The build date is the last four digits of the DOT code on the sidewall (week and year).
